In Progress: Part 2 Giving a Little Love Remodel in Exton

Posted on Sep 25, 2017 in

When we last checked in on our addition and remodel in Exton, we had plans in hand and were ready to go! Demolition, excavation, foundation work, and framing are complete and the garage addition is moving along!

We had a great stretch of weather to complete the roofing on the garage and porch additions, and the house got a new roof too. The renovation on the original house's exterior is still to come.

Inside, the new powder room — the main living floor in the split-level home has lacked that until now — has been designed, plumbed, and is ready for its exterior finishing, which will include a really cool butcher block counter and corrugated metal backsplash. There's also room for a mudroom and a pantry, along with a coat closet in the new foyer.

The rectangular vessel sink will sit above the butcher block it  influences the sconce shape, as well. The clients prefer squared shapes to rounded ones. It's all about the angles.

The area above the garage is reached by a staircase off the foyer. It's light-filled and will be finished, heated and cooled. Initially, it will provide play space for the two kids, but its ultimate destiny is still under debate.

It's starting to take shape — insulation is in, drywall is on, and the mini-split ductless HVAC will provide year-round comfort.

The new door is a drastic change from the colonial-style Dutch door — immediately creating a more modern vibe inside and out. The coat closet is to the right.
